Mara Elephant Project
Mara Elephant Project (MEP) was established in 2011 with the mission of protecting elephants to conserve the Maasai Mara ecosystem, an extension of the vast Serengeti ecosystem and Kenya’s most important wildlife area. MEP fills a gap in protecting elephants outside of conservancies and protected areas in the Mara ecosystem through anti-poaching patrols and rapid response units, elephant collaring, monitoring and research and human-elephant conflict mitigation. Driven by MEP Director of Research and Conservation Dr. Jake Wall, MEP is data-driven and focused on applied research aimed at enhancing the protection of elephants and the habitat upon which they depend. All of MEP’s data sets are input into EarthRanger, which streamlines the data collection process for useful and secure analysis. Applied conservation research on elephants, especially when combined with data from other wildlife, will help MEP to inform future spatial ecosystem plans that protect the Mara’s ecosystem functioning and biodiversity.

Semantic AI
The “AI” in Semantic AI stands for augmented intelligence. Augmented intelligence represents our goal to enhance human intelligence rather than replace it. Semantic AI pioneered the commercial use of semantic graph-based analytics in 2001. After 2 decades helping national security services make life and death decisions, the company has continued to expand its data platform offerings leveraging best in class AI-powered analytics. The solutions stitch together all data sources – showing who, what, when, where, how and why they are connected. With the super-human ability to harness vast data ecosystems, hidden context is revealed that allows businesses, governments, NGOs and foundations to seize opportunities and prevent threats.
Semantic-AI is used in conservation to map relationships between cell phones, vehicles, weapons and any other sources to build a picture of poaching syndicates and other illegal groups.
The Semantic AI-EarthRanger integration automatically feeds data from EarthRanger reports into Semantic AI, where it can be used to build or strengthen relationship networks.
Semantic AI offers their software at a vastly reduced rate for conservationists.
